A relatively recent film, The Book of Eli, presents a pretty true picture of  America's future.
If (we) even care to survive..it will not be with or by gold. It will be through Bartering! He who has Food (clean or not) will have control...but he who has CLEAN water-or the ability to produce clean water- will have Power.
Are you buying Gold for the future? What a Ripoff! Once the dollar crashes, Gangs will pretty much control the streets AND our homes (they will take them by force). A loaf of bread will cost you possibly 1 ounce of Gold. So...how long are you going to last on your Gold coins?
Gold Sellers know this much..that once chaos enters the equasion, even Platinum won't help much.
I have to hand it to gold Sellers, though...they know how to take advantage of Fear!
So, what should you and I be doing instead?
1. Find a place (as obscure as possible) for your family members to gather.
2. Have as much non-perishable food as possible (especially protein)
3.Get a pot....a BIG pot for boiling water (but also have individual "camping" water purifiers)
4.Learn to use a Bow/Arrow (if you have guns...you will eventually give-out of ammo)
5.Purchase Solar-Powered (Red Cross) radios.
6.If you can't afford individual tents...then buy a Huge waterproof Tarp from Home Depot
   Get on Ebay (or Army Nave Store) and order as large a mosquito Net as you can find (that can
   also handle NoSeeUms)
7.Don't tell anyone (outside your family) of your designated location!!

I know how Silly all this may sound to you. Actually...my "version" is the easy one.
